The announcement
Trading Statement and Operational Update QUANTUM FOODS HOLDINGS LIMITED (Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa) (Registration number: 2013/208598/06) Share code: QFH ISIN: ZAE000193686 (“Quantum Foods” or the “Company”) TRADING STATEMENT AND OPERATIONAL UPDATE TRADING STATEMENT In terms of paragraphs 6.26 to 6.30 of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, shareholders of Quantum Foods are hereby advised that for the year ended 30 September 2026 ("FY2026" or the "Current Reporting Period"), the Company is reasonably certain that: • headline earnings per share (“HEPS”) of the Company will be between 157.5 cents and 173.7 cents compared to the HEPS of 134.4 cents reported for the year that ended 30 September 2025 (“Previous Reporting Period”), being an increase of between 17% and 29%; and • earnings per share (“EPS”) of the Company will be between 160.0 cents and 176.6 cents compared to the EPS of 137.8 cents reported for the Previous Reporting Period, being an increase of between 16% and 28%. OPERATIONAL UPDATE Operating environment Trading conditions during FY2026 were generally favourable compared to the year that ended 30 September 2025, supported by higher demand for poultry products, a stronger Rand against the US Dollar, lower feed input costs, no significant poultry disease outbreaks affecting the Company's operations and low levels of electricity disruption in South Africa. These favourable conditions were partially offset in the second half of FY2026 by higher fuel costs associated with continued instability in the Middle East. Higher fuel costs increased supply chain costs, while higher inflation and interest rates placed pressure on consumer spending. Operational performance for the Current Reporting Period when compared to the Previous Reporting Period • Earnings from the feeds business improved. Feed volumes sold to external customers were unchanged but slightly lower volumes were required by the internal poultry operations due to improved farming efficiencies. Feed mill efficiencies improved and cost and margin management was well executed. Earnings in the Previous Reporting Period were negatively impacted by additional costs incurred during the repair of the Malmesbury mill raw material intake area following the June 2024 explosion. The Malmesbury feed mill expansion project was successfully completed in the first half of FY2026 and the new feed mill contributed positively to efficiency and livestock performance with high-quality feed produced. • Earnings from the broiler farming business were lower. The benefit of increased day-old chick volumes, increased live bird volumes supplied and more hatching eggs produced at lower cost on breeding farms in close proximity to the Hartbeespoort hatchery were offset by lower margins on contracted live bird sales and higher operating cost. • Earnings from the layer farming business were significantly higher despite lower volumes of point-of-lay hens sold externally. Earnings benefited from improved breeding efficiencies, increased volumes of day-old pullets sold, excellent farming efficiencies on layer farms and insurance claim proceeds for losses incurred in the Previous Reporting Period. • Earnings from the egg business decreased with volumes slightly higher when compared to the Previous Reporting Period. The benefits of lower feed costs, excellent efficiencies and good cost management mostly offset the decline of 5% in average egg selling prices. • Earnings from the other African businesses were significantly higher. In Zambia, reduced feed costs and fewer load shedding hours, together with increased demand for day old chicks and feed, offset the decline in egg selling prices, resulting in higher earnings. In Uganda, profitability also improved. The increase in feed costs was offset by enhanced farming efficiencies and increased volumes of day-old chicks and feed sold. Earnings from Mozambique increased slightly with improved farming efficiencies, lower feed costs and higher volumes offsetting the decline in egg selling prices.
